Meet My New Worst Enemy

  • admin

It seems to be a recurring theme that the other Double R interns are informing you, the readers, about the biggest problems that they have come across in these first few weeks at Double R Productions. So, now it’s my turn to speak about the greatest obstacle that I have come across. Now, I never thought I would have an arch nemesis in life because they just seemed to be the stuff of legend and comic books. But that all changed when I met mine, and its name was Avid editing. Maybe you’ve heard of it. Maybe you’ve even heard friends say, “Oh yeah, Avid’s great. I love Avid.” Don’t believe a word they say; they may not even be your friends. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a program with such a user-unfriendly interface. I have this feeling that the makers of Avid all sat down at a table and threw around ideas of what would be the quickest and most convenient way to perform simple editing tasks… and then they made a program that did the exact opposite of everything they decided upon. For example, it took me an entire day just to learn how to select a clip and drag it around the editing timeline (i.e.- stupid red arrow at the bottom of the timeline window). Now, I know that the more I use Avid, the more I will become accustomed to its quirks, but, boy, do I miss Final Cut Pro.

Next week, Andrew (aka- The Pride of Boston) is up to bat once again to share what I’m sure will be another hilarious tidbit about his life as a Double R intern.
