New Kids On The Block

Another semester at Double R means three new interns looking for fun and education in “Double R Land”. First is myself, Quinton Collins and thanks to the CECAP/DOES Program I’ll be here learning the ins-n-outs of running a small (but still big hearted) video production company. We also have Michelle Gaduzo and Shirley Hu from The Washington Center, an organization that provides students with internships in the D.C. area. Michelle is from Gibraltar; a British territory in Spain and Shirley is from Shanghai, China. The three of us have been talking everyday about the differences in each country such as words, customs, and where to visit while in the states but more on that later. As the American of the group I plan to take them around DC and guide them on the “American way.”

On our first day, we went on a scavenger hunt for places Double R frequents. We needed to get familiar with places Rosemary might send us so the hunt took us around Dupont Circle. We even got a look at the outside of her city condo (hopefully we get to see the inside). We also had to pick up a carrot cake for Michael, Double R’s lead editor and his birthday. We ended our first day with cake and the rest of the seasoned Double R personnel. Eurah didn’t join us because she got stuck in Chicago due to weather (sad). Even though she was stuck in Chicago overnight, she was still able to get to a shoot the next morning (not sad). I’m looking forward to a busy and productive year with Double R.
