This Friday marks the end of my fourth week at Double R Productions. I learned how to work the teleprompter, assisted with four shoot meetings, created our newsletter – Moosletter, brainstormed PSA ideas, and carried out an email marketing campaign. All has been done with the help and support of the Double R Team.
Throughout August we have hosted some media training sessions for powerful women from GroundSwell Fund via Gwen McKinney & McKinney Associates. Thanks to these shoots, I have learned how to properly prepare and carry out the procedures before, during, and after the shoot. I assisted the team with setting up the cameras and teleprompter, putting on powder for our clients to ensure their best look on camera, and researching for the biography of these people. Rosemary helped them practice speaking in public with confidence and properly answer the unexpected attack type questions from a “hostile” audience or press. I learned a lot about the techniques just by noticing how Rosemary trained them from standing and sitting posture to the positive attitude and passionate speech delivery needed to get a message across.
Another exciting experience in this past week was our shoot with Alex & Alexis and their proposed travel show – Off The Beaten Path. This is Andrea Sims and her Lion Share Communications project. They needed help with some videos for the travel adventures to Romania, Ashville (NC), and Vietnam. I was so glad to see the wide range of projects that our company can take on. We consult, shoot, edit, and we get it right!!! Before the shoot, one exciting task that I did was to get Durian at H-Mart. Durian is a popular fruit in Vietnam and it is an acquired taste since it smells very bad for some people. However, Alex & Alexis pulled it off very well with this surprise taste of Vietnam. It was very hot that day when we did the shoot for Alex & Alexis. Our team sweat, but we always worked together to ensure the best quality for our clients.
Last but not least, my exciting experience at Double R has to include the fun activities that we did together. We order and try out various food from different places in Washington DC every Monday. We eat, talk, watch, and discuss the news. Also, last Thursday Rosemary and I went to the DC Startup Week rooftop event at the BB&T tower. We enjoyed the snacks and drinks and put our name out there to support our local DC startups. Exciting opportunities await!
