My status here at Double R Productions has changed. Since my internship ended in December 2019, I’ve been promoted to an apprentice this year. I didn’t know what to expect as an apprentice, but whatever it was, I was ready. I’ve been an apprentice for a month and I like it. I have a new workspace and more responsibilities. One of the biggest responsibilities I now have is helping and teaching our new intern, Seulah. It’s a little nerve wracking knowing that I have to teach her what I’ve learned, because I am still learning as well. It’s always a thought on whether I’ve taught her the right thing, or said the right terminology, or if I’m moving too fast for her to understand whatever I’m helping her with. But this is a great learning experience because I get to do a quick refresher on all things production that I learned as an intern.
For example, helping someone learn Avid is very interesting. I have to go back to the basics, which can be hard to explain at times because I’m not used to teaching others. Coming up, we have social media posts for Black History Month and a new series for Double R Interns YouTube channel. I’m a little nervous because I want the work we do to be very successful. I’ve made a schedule for us to stick to and I hope we can keep up with it. Overall, I’m excited to create content for our channel and to get more editing experience in general with Avid.
