Oh the weather outside is frightful but the Double R Productions staff is so delightful.Reading reviews, seeing the awards, and knowing the impact that Double R has on The Washington Center is wonderful, but the first week of interning here confirmed that.Walking through Dupont Circle, we didn’t know what to expect. We were not sure if we were ready for what was ahead of us. Day one was full of information. As we rung the doorbell, all of our nervousness went away when Rodger greeted with a smile.
Pigs, Cows, and A Serious Vow
One of the first thoughts walking in was, “What is up with all of the pigs and cows?”Well we learned the story of how Rosemary Reed, President of Double R Productions, grew up on a farm.Though she never used to brand the farm animals, the animals became a metaphor for what she used to brand her business. Those pigs and cows watch over us everyday. If you ask me, I think that they make sure we follow the vow that we took.As interns we agreed that we would work hard and do our best.Every time I pause, I notice the pig on top of my computer watching me.
9-5 Internships are boring! Let’s Try 6:45 a.m.
The first week is amazing.I never thought that I would have helped with a media training, shot a client video with celebrity actor Danny Glover, ran around Dupont Circle, shot our first internship project, In-The-Camera, wrote social media blurbs, and learned how to write call sheets all in our first week. This is amazing! We tested our networking skills on our first day at a Washington D.C. industry holiday party hosted by Women in Film Video and Television Internet Video Association of DC.When talking to other interns at The Washington Center about Double R Productions, many became jealous about me interning here.
I’m Not An Intern? I’m a family Member!
I will always cherish that at Double R Productions, I’m a functioning piece of the family. The word “intern” can be looked at as the bottom part of the company, but here at Double R Productions we are more than that.To sit at the meetings, voice our opinions, and have people take time out of their schedules because we are a priority is very special to me.You can look forward to a lot coming from the intern team because the Double R Productions staff make sure that we are above average. Like the company says, “We Get It Right!”
