I won’t lie, I love my job here at Double R and, because of that, whenever I talk about what I do here I may sound a little too enthusiastic. Just a little.
What really shocks me is that I’m enjoying my day-to-day office work. I thought I would dread answering phones, making copies, scanning documents and the such. That is not the case. Of course, that does not mean that my goal is to be a personal assistant to a CEO, but everybody has to start from somewhere, and it’s nice to know that, in the event of that happening, I won’t hate my job.
What doesn’t shock me, though, is the fact that I’m falling more and more in love with the process of producing a piece. Turns out, I was right about my assumption: producing a video will take you out of your comfort zone and bring you into a whole new scenery. What’s not to love?!
In the past few weeks I have been to shoots at a former Senator’s office, the National Credit Union Administration, Darlington House restaurant in Dupont Circle and, of course, Double R´s own insert studio. There isn’t time to get bored around here!
That is the life I want, and that is why I love this job. So, keep this in mind if you want to pursue a job in video production: be prepared to face a hectic, spontaneous and, at times, chaotic and frustrating environment. If you are OK with all of this, chances are you will love this field.
Adiós!
