Our sixth week at Double R Productions has been one of the most hectic weeks so far. After covering the Pope’s visit downtown, Hiwot and I quickly turned over the story and presented it to the staff. We polished and perfected the newsreel in order to properly welcome Rosemary back from her business trip to Italy!
Following that Lauren, Hiwot, and I covered the Chase Brexton Charm Ball. This shoot tested our organization and production skills as well as our ability to work as a team. Following the stars with a camera and capturing interviews on the go was hectic and exciting. After long hours of shooting we drafted up ideas for what we wanted the final product to look like.
In the meantime Hiwot and I decided to begin our Pro Bono piece for Life Pieces to Master Piece, a non-profit organization for youth development. By covering the Courage on Canvas Red Carpet event at the Pepco Gallery we interviewed the director, board members, and some of the youth in the program. They were honored that we chose their organization for our video and so we had a great time working with them.
As you can imagine we had no downtime this week. We even worked straight through Columbus Day, enthusiastic to finish our pending projects. When we weren’t editing for Chase Brexton, we were shooting for Life Pieces, and when we weren’t doing that, we were assisting on shoots for the American Academy of Pediatrics.
So much for sharpening pencils and filing papers…here at Double R Productions we are more than just “interns” we are Production Assistants in the making. And as we are half way through our time here at Double R , we are more focused than ever before.
