Interns or Future Producers?

  • admin

The Double R intern trend continues: always busy, never enough time, yet somehow we meet our deadlines.  The experience has been fun, challenging and great practice for the real world.   However, the past couple weeks have had something missing. I personally couldn’t place a finger on what that something was until Tuesday of this week. When we shot a video for a client that just released her book. We were helping her promote it by making a video she can post on her website.  This type of shoot is normal for the Double R staff and wouldn’t appear to be all that big of a deal.  However, the Double R staff actually played a very small role in the fruition of this project. The intern team and I took this project on almost exclusively by us. We’ve taken on many projects by ourselves at this point, but what made this project unique is that it was for a client. Until this week, the Double R intern team has only created content that would be used in our portfolios, displayed on the intern YouTube page, and to Facebook.   Not this project.  I have a really good feeling knowing we are providing a service for a person that needs it.  I think this is what was missing: We weren’t creating content for other’s use. I’m glad Rosemary trusted us enough to take on this project.

At Double R Productions, the mission is to consult, shoot and edit. That’s exactly what we did. The intern team consulted a vision and scripts with the client, we established a shoot date and time, assembled the insert studio with lights, a camera, a teleprompter, and now we’re editing the this important video. With three weeks left in the Internship I am impressed. Looking back on not only this project, but also where we have come since the beginning. I’m really excited to find out where we all end up.
