Shoot #1 – All Hands on Deck!

  • admin

When joining the Double R Productions team, I was promised to get a ‘hands-on experience’ throughout my internship. After hearing this, I thought to myself; “Okay, so I landed an internship, and a ‘hands-on experience’ probably entails running to the nearest Starbucks to grab everyone’s coffee for the day.” Wrong! At Double R, I already landed my first hands-on experience on the shoot with Washington Gas within the first week of being here.

I was right there on the scene with Double R Productions President Rosemary Reed shooting a safety video for Washington Gas’s employees. I developed the “shoot sheet” for the shoot, as well as the “shot list”.  I assisted the cameraman and Washington Gas’s safety specialist, helping plan what shot needs to be recorded for each scene in the video.

When talking with in Washington D.C., some of them ended up being the “coffee boy” for the day. Most of them actually told me that they haven’t done anything yet. And here’s me, at day 3, shooting with another company to develop a safety video that would be watched by all of their employees for the next couple of years!

So, when joining the Double R Productions team, I was promised to get a hands on experience throughout my internship….and I am!
