The first time I talked to Rosemary on the phone she mentioned all of the projects Double R was going to work on throughout my stay. Out of all of them, one quickly drew my attention: the NAB project.
You may be wondering, what is this ‘NAB project’?
Well, I’m here to tell you. NAB stands for National Association of Broadcasters and every two years, Double R produces a series of Public Service Announcements (PSAs) for the NAB that address different issues of concern throughout the United States. Then, the NAB offers said PSAs to every Representative and Senator to read for free. Every politician that accepts the offer shoots a short stand-up and then the PSA is aired on TV and radio stations in his or her district or state.
Double R is also hired to record those stand ups and, because of this, I have met a lot of politicians.
I had been waiting for this moment because of how important these productions are for everybody. Also, everybody at the office kept talking about how we all need to bring our A-game to these shoots. So naturally, we were hyped.
I enjoyed the experience a lot. It was very cool to get to shoot at the Capitol (be careful throwing that “shoot” word around there, though). I won’t lie… I didn’t get to see much of the Capitol outside of our tiny studio.
Still, it is amazing where your next shoot will take you. From the National Children’s Museum to the Capitol to a tiny restaurant across the street, you never know where you are going to be next.
