A Protesting Pitfall

  • admin

Despite the semester winding down, we are continuously busy here at Double R. This week, the intern team has been in the office transcribing and scripting our pro bono piece for Foggy Bottom West End Village, brainstorming for our next vlog, and designing postcards.

We were assigned at the last minute to capture another protest outside of the Dupont Circle metro. As Joyce, Lauren, and I shot b-roll and interviews of the protesters, we learned they were volunteers, and not confident in exactly what they were protesting. We gathered that they wanted to privatize the metro, but no one in the crowd offered reasons or solutions to the problem. This was an interesting experience for all three of us, especially compared to the success of our first news piece.

As we continue to edit and wrap up various projects, we’re beginning to see our work truly come to life. It’s often hard to envision the end result when brainstorming and scripting for a project, but seeing it on the screen is always rewarding. The field of communications will never cease to amaze me in this way.
