My name is Nicholas Musitano and I am a communications student from Stockton University in southern New Jersey. I will be interning at Double R for the spring semester and I could not be more excited!
I grew up right across the street from the University I attend and while I do love my family and close friends back home, something inside of me needed a change. For the three years that I’ve been attending Stockton, they always highlighted a program that caught my attention every time. Knowing that I needed an internship to graduate, I applied to the Washington Internship Program, also known as The Washington Center, and was quickly accepted. After an irritating process of not knowing where I was going to intern due to the government shutdown, Rosemary Reed at Double R reached out to set up an interview. I looked more into the company and decided that this is where I was meant to be. I soon had a conversation with Rosemary and Associate Producer, Eurah Lee, which only further confirmed how much I wanted to work here. Hearing what both of them had to say about the company and what I would be doing to contribute, immediately dissipated much of the stress and anxiety I was dealing with for the couple months leading up to the program. I saw it as an amazing opportunity for me to get hands on experience with different aspects of the field in a much smaller, personal, yet exceedingly professional setting.
Upon arrival, I was able to meet all of my coworkers including Inhye Park. Inhye is a student from South Korea who came to the United States through the Korea West Internship Program and will be my partner through this internship. Right away, I began working on all of the various projects that I will contribute to throughout the semester. These include blog posts such as this, 30-second speeches about myself and the company, film projects, and a pro bono project in which we will start pre- production shortly. That’s only some of the projects I will be working on! Inhye and I will also be attending a live interview with former New Jersey Governor and Presidential Candidate, Chris Christie tomorrow evening at the Washington Post.
I am looking forward to my time here and all of the wonderful experiences that will come with it.
