The Spring 2011 Double R interns arrived two weeks ago and we’ve settled in very comfortably! We were welcomed with open arms to a new city and a new work place, where we will learn a lot in a 15-week period.
When I learned about our projects for the semester, I took a long breath and reassured myself that everything was going to be OK. If I have questions, they will be answered here – I’ve already asked several questions! Being very anxious to come to work is a good thing; I’m excited to work in a place that will help lay the grounds for my future. What my future holds at this point, I am unsure, but this internship will allow me to understand the production business and help me to narrow my path.
If you’re wondering what a typical day is like at a communications firm like this one, there certainly is not one! Every day new tasks are assigned to us, and every day I learn something new. I’ll probably have several notebooks filled with valuable information by end of the semester, because I want to take what I’ve learned from here and put it to use in the future. I understand repetition is key to learning, and I will continue to perform tasks such as editing on the Avid until I reach a proficient level. At times, I will face challenges and glitches that seem unfamiliar and intimidating, but the extraordinary guidance here at Double R will help me get past those obstacles.
