My nerves ran rapid last Friday as Double R shot a promotional video for Management and Training Consultants, Inc. (MTCI) It was our intern team’s first shoot, so Carina, David and I kicked the seven P’s into high gear. What exactly are the seven P’s?
Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Production. Everyone had a job to do, and we all understood this prior to the shoot so that we’d be a well-oiled machine. David made sure everyone on camera signed a release form. Carina captured the production process on her still camera. The photography-guru snapped pictures of the set and the production team which will come in handy later for the Double R newsletter. I made everyone on camera shine, (and I don’t mean from bodily oils, I mean from makeup). When the camera rolled, I noted takes.
My favorite part of the day was watching Rosemary conduct interviews with the prominent MTCI employees. As a broadcast journalism major, I took that time to learn new techniques. I studied Rosemary’s composure throughout the process, and the way she adapted to each interviewee. Some were more nervous than others, and some had trouble finding a response to her questions. I learned the importance of being flexible, and that rewording a question in an answer results in the answer you need on screen.
In the end, planning prior to production made us a success, and ultimately the video will be a success.
