Dressed on a wall tapestry, those striking words are the first thing I see as I’m walking into The Arts and Drama Therapy Institute.
The Arts and Drama Therapy Institute (ADTI) offers daily therapeutic treatment services for individuals with different abilities (intellectual disabilities). ADTI’s mission is truly wonderful—to maximize the individuals’ self-esteem, dignity, and independence through art.
You see, our communications coordinator, Rodger Brown, met the co-founder of ADTI, Dr. Do, back in April while Double R was hosting the Cinemabitlity premiere—a documentary on the impact and influence of people with disabilities in Hollywood. Completely inspired by their passion for art and mental health care, Double R Productions kept this connection in hopes to shoot a video for them in the near future. And this week, my fellow interns, Rodger, and I finally visited the facility for the first time.
The walls are showered with artworks that the students created. We see pictures of them performing drama and music. As Dr. Sky, another ADTI co-founder, takes us on a tour, we stop at an even bigger wall tapestry with ADTI’s striking motto.

And we all have our abilities. The students at the facility close our visit with a choir performance, singing popular songs like “Billie Jean” and “I will Always Love You.” As I’m listening to their angelic voices, all I hear is pure talent.
