Rosemary taught us the rule of seven P’s the first day on the job: Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Production. I never thought that all those P’s would be so beneficial to my internship and my “Progress.” See what I did there? How does Double R Productions do this? We “Prepare.”
Time management. If you manage your time, you can do everything. Although we covered two news stories, shot and edited a video blog, wrote scripts, crafted shoot sheets, wrote blogged and captioned videos, we still have a lot more to do in the two weeks left at Double R Productions. We will shoot and edit a pro bono video for Lucky Dogs Animal Rescue, finish editing a video for an author about her book, edit our second video blog and design our Double R Productions postcards.
Back up plans. Last week we shot a video for an author on her new book. When we upload videos to our computer to edit them, we need to save them to the “G-Raid.” For some reason, we didn’t do that, and we thought we lost our videos. Thankfully, Anthony saved the files to the desktop in case we transferred the videos improperly, and Michael helped us fix the issue.
The team. The best part of the seven P’s is that Double R Productionshas an amazing team. Catherine, our producer, looks over our videos and proofreads our blogs, so hopefully I did well. Rodger helped us develop ideas for our video blog and taught us how to look up music. Paul assisted in our editing process. Michael, although a man of few words, showed us how to fix our footage when we don’t save it correctly (refer back to the third paragraph). Then there’s Rosemary. She has reviewed our scripts, our videos, and given us opportunities to meet so many people who can help further our careers. With all of these components, Double R Productions has given me the tools I need to “Prosper.”
