I felt lucky to assist our “Chief-Cook-and-Bottle-Washer”, Rosemary at an event on by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). The AFSP is the leader in the difficult fight against suicide. They fund research and educational programs, advocate for public policy and support those affected by suicide. In this event Double R took charge on light and sound. Although, the show officially started at 7, Double R arrived around 3:45 to set up, ensure everything run smoothly. For me, somehow Double R has the incredible magic to turn ordinary things into precious experiences. I learned prodigiously about set up seats, equipment, and run an event properly. Moreover, Judy Collins joined as a guest speaker. She delivered a real, inspiring, and touching speech regarding suicidal lives, causes and solutions from her own attempts and her son’s suicide. Judy moved the audience emotionally, when her famous song “Amazing Grace” embraced the entire auditorium. In addition, both Rosemary and I got her “Singing Lessons” book autographed as a nice wrap-up gift from such memorable occasion. The event reached an end with tremendous success. Nonetheless concerted efforts and meticulous preparations of the crew contributed greatly to seamless success.
