Oh the good ole years of childhood. A carefree time of playing in dirt, wearing pajamas, and waiting for Santa Clause at midnight. However, the inevitable enemy of time creeps upon your front porch, and there you have it! You are finally 21 years old. Although my birthday is long gone, my fellow intern Caitlin had a memorable 21st birthday this week at Double R Productions.
Caitlin walked into Double R with a cheery smile and a positive attitude. “Today is my birthday!” she said in her Floridian accent. Little did she know, she was stepping into a world of calamity! The day started normal as usual. We checked our emails, took part in meetings, and started to work on projects. Rosemary walked into the room and said she needed me. To my surprise, she whispered and asked what type of cake Caitlin likes. Unfortunately I had no idea so I went with the best option: chocolate! I was the first to know about the ensuing surprise. Throughout the day, Rosemary burdened Caitlin with tons of work. The workload was particularly strange since it was her birthday. Unbeknownst to her, it was all a part of the plan!
Rosemary packed more bite than usual to Caitlin. Caitlin fell into a state of panic. She flew across the office completing one project after another. Finally the moment of truth approached. Rosemary told Caitlin to speak to Rodger, Double R‘s Communications Coordinator, in his office. Rosemary quickly told Anthony and I to fetch the birthday cake. With a thunderous voice, Rosemary yelled “Caitlin get in here now!” We could hear Caitlin’s heels hitting the carpet nervously as she approached the table. She wasn’t able to see the birthday cake at first because we covered it. To her surprise, the entire Double R team turned around and sung Happy Birthday. The look of relief on Caitlin face was a sight to see. I happily captured the moment. We sat down and ate the scrumptious cake. Laughter filled the room as Caitlin recalled how stressed she felt that morning. I’m sure Caitlin will never forget her first Double R birthday… ever!
