Double R Experience Leads to Many

  • admin

Part of this internship is blogging about my experiences here at Double R. But where do I start? In only three weeks, I’ve seen and done more than I could have imagined.

My co-interns and I got acquainted with the Dupont area on a scavenger hunt. Then we learned how to use the camera. Now you can find us behind the camera, doing the fun stuff.

Don’t get me wrong. The scavenger hunt was fun, but production is more fun!

Last Friday I attended the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 35th Anniversary Gala! It was the type of event that you only see on TV. The servers walked around with appetizers and drinks, open bars were in every corner and the full buffet looked delicious. I met face-to-face with Mayor Gray and Chairman Brown. It was an event that I will never forget.

Rosemary wants the best for all of her employees, yes even the interns! She introduced me to Jenine Jones of Al-Jazeera, who I did an informational interview with. For TWC we have to do informational interviews with people in our field of interest and trust me when I say I had no clue of who to go to besides Rosemary. Rosemary sent one e-mail to Jenine and the interview was set up and ready for me.

I was nervous. I wanted to conduct the interview on-camera and although I have a lot of history of using the camera, I wanted to take someone with me for assistance. Rosemary told me I will do fine and taking another intern would be just as good as taking a production assistant! And she was right! Linda and I went and we did an awesome job!

I must say that working for Double R is an experience that will stick with me for life. I will never forget those who are showing me the way and my co-interns who are with me every step of the way! Team RBL (Rory, Brittany, Linda) are WINNERS!!! #Winning [And no the # wasn’t a typo…. its a Twitter thing ;-)]
