I received a text from my sister saying, “Oh, I can’t believe it” with a picture of Seoul and a gray sky. The most severe fine dust or tiny particles caused by diesel vehicles or incinerators attacked Korea this winter. People took our usual blue sky for granted and now it is no longer easy for us to see.
April 22nd is international Earth Day. Nico, Quinton, and I went out to the National Mall to film an environmental rally, pick up garbage, and recycle. We interviewed a young 14-year-old student who organized the rally. Although the student was young, I was deeply moved by her motivation to protect the environment. She walked around the National Mall holding a sign that said, “there is no planet B.”
As a society, we should be more interested in our environment. Recycling and using eco-friendly products should be exercised every day. These may seem simple and ineffective, but the small actions are really important to protect the environment. We have to pay attention to the environmental issues we are facing and make an effort to keep our planet livable for all life.
