Fear transforms to fun

Waking up at 4:15 AM was painful, especially after a short night without sleep. I felt nervous about being a production assistant for Double R Productionsfor the first time in my life. As Scott already told you, everything that goes wrong is the PA’s fault. A reason to be excited but also a little bit worried, don’t you think?

After a quick shower and lot of coffee, I walked down to the bus ready for this great adventure. Of course, the bus dropped me off in the middle of nowhere and I was disoriented. There I walked, like a real Belgian tourist with my big map in the dark at 6 AM. I have to admit that I was scared and the stress and tiredness did not help my situation at all. But when I saw Catherine with her lovely smile, Dave with his professional equipment and coffee with a blueberry muffin, I started to enjoy this important day. As you can see, every cloud has a silver lining.

We arrived at our destination after a funny drive to Baltimore (Our white backdrop was too large to fit in Dave’s truck, so we mounted it to the outside of the car). Three elevator rides and a few minutes later, we reached our room safely. Right then, my real work started. I helped Dave set up for the interview. It was fascinating to see an ordinary hotel room transform into a professional studio in a matter of minutes.

When our first interviewee arrived, I still could not shake the nervousness. It is a rare opportunity to put makeup on a CEO, and I just so happened to receive many of those opportunities. I mastered it after a few interviews and even started to like it. After all, you have to learn how to walk before you run. An easier task was explaining the release form to people. Also, taking still pictures was not hard to handle. As a matter of fact, I love taking pictures!

After thirteen interviews, chatting with the client and breaking down the set, we turned back home, exhausted but happy. On the way home, I closed my eyes to rest and remembered all of the interesting lessons I learned. I (almost?) fell asleep with a big smile on my face.
