Boy is time flying by so fast! Or should I say girl? This internship has definitely been a whirlwind of activity and all about the power of women. Maggie and I assisted Rosemary during a proposal presentation and we sure were a force to be reckoned with. We have been awarded the project and you will have to read future blogs to learn all about that power.
Maggie and I passed our two-week review with flying colors. Well not really, but at least we survived the first couple of weeks. We still have a lot to learn, but I know we can handle anything that comes our way.
On that inspirational note, I was invited to the Walker’s Legacy: Women in Business & Civic Leadership Awards. The event featured so many strong and successful women coming together to support one another. I networked with inspiring women, including Madam C.J. Walker’s great granddaughter, A’Lelia Bundles. I am grateful to Double R for that invitation. Catherine and Rosemary had work calling them back at the office, but I stayed an extra hour to network. I made a new opportunity out of an opportunity. The event ended with a compelling quote from Madam C.J. Walker, which states, “ I had to make my own living and my own opportunity. But I made it! Don’t sit down and wait for the opportunities to come. Get up and make them.” If that’s not girl power, then I don’t know what is.
