In my first blog post, I mentioned that the intern team hit the ground running.
Almost four weeks later, we’re still running, and we’ve picked up speed.
This week is a whirlwind of activity, most of which revolves around future projects, like the DC Arts and Humanities Education Collaborative gala at the French Embassy. The intern team is almost completely in charge of the project, from organizing and planning to shooting footage and editing.
(No pressure.)
The highlight of the week, however, was a shoot at Sirius XM Radio for The Washington Center. TWC hosted a panel in Sirius XM’s largest recording studio about the internship-to-the-job transition, and invited Double R Productions to shoot the event.
Armed with cameras, lights, and a sturdy tripod, me and my fellow interns got our first taste of working for a client.
(Again, no pressure.)
We had to get a little innovative because we only had one camera, but the end result looks, if not outstanding, at least good. It was a fun learning experience, and The Washington Center actually requested a highlights piece for their website. So this week also marks our first in-depth foray into AVID territory.
The next couple of weeks will also be busy as we continue to prepare for our NAB Congressional Families PSA project in May and several other events coming up in March that seem to be approaching us at hyper-speed. It is hurricane season at Double R and I am fortunate enough to be standing at the center of it all.
What an experience!
