Introduction to the New Fall 2019 Interns

  • admin

Hello, everyone, my name is Monique Brown and I’m one of the new interns at Double R Productions for the fall. I recently graduated in May with my bachelor in Communication Studies from Widener University. I received this internship from the Creative Economy Career Access Program – CECAP, which is sponsored by the Department of Employment Services. My passion for storytelling is what truly motivated me to apply for this program. On the first day at work, I was truly amazed by how deeply involved the interns are for the daily operations of the business. Most internship positions would just require an individual to perform daily tasks like coffee runs, file papers, and carry equipment. However, this is not that kind of internship at all. This position requires an individual to think critically and become an integral component in the production of content that will be used for short and long term projects.

Hi, I’m Brianna Rogers. I’m a new intern here at Double R Productions for Fall 2019. I was born and raised in Washington, DC, but earned my Communication Studies degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I was able to get my internship at Double R Productions through the Creative Economy Career Access Program through the Department of Employment Services. I’m excited to be apart of this internship because I get the opportunity to learn more about content creating, which is what I like to do and being here is only going to help me improve my craft. Coming into Double R productions, I was very excited, but nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. I was a little shocked because the work we were doing wasn’t coffee runs or any tasks that we aren’t learning from, which made me very happy. After going over the assignments we’ll be in charge of, it makes me very eager to be with Double R because I know that I will benefit from everything I do here. I know that this is a big opportunity for me to gain a lot of knowledge from the company and I’m very ready.

Hi I am Karl Celecia, a new intern from Gibraltar. Upon arrival at Double R Productions, I was very anxious to meet everyone. Coming from another country, I was nervous to see what the work environment was like. Although there was a slight difference in the office work culture, I did settle into it after a couple of days. Alongside me were Brianna and Monique, who are also new interns. I felt a little less anxious when meeting them, as it gave me comfort in knowing that I wasn’t the only one starting fresh. On the first day, we were welcomed into the office, where we had a brief introduction about the upcoming semester. As soon as we arrived we set up our emails and got assigned to a computer. Later on that day we were challenged to complete a scavenger hunt, which involved us to visit numerous places around Dupont Circle. This did not only help familiarize ourselves with the surroundings, but it also allowed us to integrate, get to know one another and work as a team. We also got free pizza!
