A snowstorm rolled in Wednesday night, causing the government to shut down. However, that did not stop us interns at Double R from coming into work. We dawned our winter coats and snow boots and trekked to the metro through the fresh snow. The snow made the city exceptionally beautiful this morning, making our trip to work even more enjoyable.
Greeted by Rosemary at the office, we got straight to business. The girls and I hopped on the Avid, and with Paul’s help we created our first fluid film! When we first began to work with the Avid it was quite intimidating, however after exploring the program for a few hours we seemed to get the hang of it. The project we edited was our elevator speeches, a video we shot and starred in ourselves. Editing our video for the first time was exciting, and not as hard as we thought!
While every day is an important lesson learned at Double R, today I learned something that will stick with me forever. In my home state of New Jersey, my aunt owns a small business. In conversations with her about what she has to do in order to keep her restaurant afloat, I have become familiar with how difficult running your own business can be. Working with Rosemary over the past couple of weeks however has been a real eye opener. Working at a communications firm is a demanding task, which requires each member of the team to work hard every day of the year. But while we work hard here at Double R, I am enjoying every moment of it. They say you don’t work a day in your life when you’re doing what you love, and boy can I say I love what I am doing here at Double R Productions!
