Korean Food, It’s Not Hard to Make!

Cooking is a hobby of mine so I often cook Korean food in my home. I’d like to teach you how to cook Korean food without having to go to a Korean mart. This recipe is for Galbijjim. This is a kind of Korean barbecue with beef short ribs. My foreign friends all like it. It’s very simple to cook. You can easily get all the ingredients from Safeway, Walmart, Target, or Whole Foods.

 

Ingredients

2 lbs of beef short ribs, cooking wine, soy sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, pepper, salt, sugar, garlic, green onion, onion, carrots, potato.

 

Directions

  1. Soak the ribs in cold water for 30 minutes.
  2. Boil water in a pot and put in the ribs for 10 minutes.
  3. Wash them with cold water to remove unnecessary fat.
  4. Make the sauce for the ribs: mix 2 cups of water, 4 cups of soy sauce, 3tbs minced garlic, ½ sliced onion, 1 cup of cooking wine, and ½ cup of sugar.
  5. Add the sauce to the ribs in the pot and boil them for 20 minutes.
  6. Cut carrot and potato into 5 cm-size cubes and add them to the pot.

(If you like pepper, you can add the slices of pepper.)

  1. Boil down for 1 hour over low heat.
  2. Add 1tbsp of sugar, 1tbsp sesame oil, ½tsp salt (you can skip it), and ½tsp black pepper, and then heat it up over high heat until liquid evaporates.

 

I recommend eating it with rice because the combination of Galbijjim and rice is really fantastic. One tip is that you should stir the ribs and the ingredients from time to time while it simmers. Everyone, have a nice dinner!
