As a millennial it is safe to assume I am glued to social media of all kinds, so when Rosemary gave the other interns and I the reigns to “Double R: project Instagram” I became super excited. This was a chance for me to demonstrate my social media skills and to promote the Double Rbrand on a new medium.
The interns and I initially did a lot of research on the best ways to promote a small business on Instagram. While I was already familiar with the social media outlet, I wanted to learn more about the best ways to promote Double R. It is not always enough to use hashtags and follow people; it takes a lot of time, effort and interaction with your followers to build up a base.
After we got started though, Double R’s Instagram page gained more than 100 followers from the time I came into work to the time I clocked out. How exciting to watch something I created take off!
The hardest part about creating and managing social media for a business is promoting its brand using its voice. It is important to represent the vision of Rosemary, and capture the voice of her company through pictures. Though challenging, this is also the most enjoyable part for me. Project Instagram allows me to be creative, and show my experiences at Double R through my eyes while at the same time representing the brand of the company (which if you didn’t know is “the best brand in the business”).
Happy Friday!
