This past week I attended my first video shoot with the Double R Productions team for DC Water Security. Here at Double R, we take pride in our work, so this means preparation, preparation, preparation. Just like the saying goes, “Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Production,” so the video shoot took weeks of organizing and proper planning.
Before the video shoot, the interns had to learn how to use the teleprompter. We were then tested on our skills to see if we were ready for the challenge of working the teleprompter with live talent. Of course, all of the interns were able to tackle the task of mastering the teleprompter, but the real challenge lied ahead for the actual video shoot. The production team designated roles for the shoot and decided that I had proven myself fit to run the teleprompter. The teleprompter was just one of the many tasks that the interns had to handle for the first video shoot. Also, did I mention that the shoot was at 7:30 AM? So the team’s day began at 6:45 AM.
Once we arrived at DC Water’s Blue Plains, the team was ready to crack open the cases and set up the equipment. Of course, before the production began rolling. The client wanted to make some adjustments to the script to fit their vision of the video. This meant the script had to be changed in the teleprompter. It was my job to make sure the changes were added to the teleprompter quickly. While I was making changes to the script, the other intern – Brianna put make-up on the talent, and Karl made sure that everyone on camera signed the release forms and helped set up equipment. Throughout the day there were many challenges and changes that the production team had to overcome to be able to produce the best quality work. The clients were very impressed by the professionalism of the entire team. Overall, I had a wonderful time with the production team and had a great experience with the clients on my first video shoot.
