I have just reached the mid-point of my semester at Double R Productions and so far I have had the chance to do some pretty cool stuff. I’ve learned (albeit not yet mastered) logging and editing on AVID, worked as a production assistant on shoots, written a script, done a voice-over, and learned how to use the cameras. Pretty soon, however, I will have the opportunity to try something completely new and a little scary…working on-camera. That’s right. We are shooting a project for a client this week and yours truly will be the “talent” in the video. I have lines to memorize, outfits to test out, and a big scary camera to record my every move! Considering I want to work on-camera in the news industry after I graduate, I should probably get used to all the pressure but I am still nervous for my first real shoot! I looked up some tips on how to prepare for the big day and found this website to be very helpful: http://www.mediamojito.com/top-ten-ways-to-get-on-camera-and-not-freak-out/ I especially need to work on Tip #7 about practicing timing because I have a tendency to talk super fast. As soon as I finish practicing my lines I’ll be sure to memorize all these as well! I’ll be back in a couple of weeks to let you know how it went!
