As I started brainstorming topics for my blog post, I realized that this will be my last one as an intern with Double R.
Weird, huh?
So, of course, that sent me scrolling back through all the old posts, laughing over my long-haired pictures from my first days in the office. Time really is a funny thing. In the grand scope of things fifteen weeks is just a blink, but it feels much longer than that. The first picture of me at my desk seems like it was taken forever ago, and in some ways, it’s like looking at a different person. Perhaps, the passage of time feels longer when go you through a lot of inner change.
A person can change a lot in fifteen weeks, that much I’ve learned.
In fifteen weeks, I have fallen in love with this city, so full of history, colorful people, and photo opportunities. I have discovered how to be more confident, and present myself professionally. I have gotten more than just a glimpse into the inner workings of the video production field, I’ve had the chance to actually step inside and be a part of it—from start to finish. I have done things that I didn’t think I was capable of, and I have watched myself become a better person for it.
In fifteen weeks, I changed my life.
Everyone needs an experience like this, I believe—a challenging, rewarding experience that can push you to the limits of yourself. Without experiences like the one I have had at Double R, we never grow up—for these are the kind of experiences that shape you into the person you are meant to become.
So thank you to the Double R staff, and all the other people I have met along the way, who made this experience possible. I won’t forget it.
Enough waxing poetic, though. I don’t want to make anyone sad. I still have a little bit of time left in Washington D.C. Even though my official internship draws to a close in two short weeks I will remain here for the rest of May to help out on a big production shoot with the NAB.
That is definitely going to be an experience that will push me to my limits!
I changed my life in fifteen weeks. I’m excited to see what the next six will hold.
