Fourteen weeks have passed, and I’m still anxious to work! One more week as an intern remains, and I’m jumping right into the workforce as a production assistant for Double R’s biggest project this year: The National Association of Broadcasters’ Congressional Families PSA campaign. Double R is hiring me to work past my internship until the end of May, which is when the project ends.
I mentioned in my first blog that I was probably going to have several notebooks filled with valuable information by the end of this semester, which has definitely been the case. These notebooks contain information regarding the AVID editing system, proper sales actions, and notes taken from weekly meetings. Without these notebooks, I would not be able to retain the knowledge and skills that I have gained here. Of course, I must give credit to my supervisors here at Double R that have been excellent guides to my success and whose advice has carried me through several challenges I’ve faced.
Through my time here at Double R, I’ve experienced several projects that expanded my knowledge of the production business and what it entails. Interning for a communications firm has enhanced my communication skills. As many may know, communication is a powerful skill that allows individuals to progress in life. I’ve learned how to communicate through video, which is key when attempting to convey a certain message that targets a particular audience. I will take this improved skill as well as the various others with me and use them to my greatest ability to produce quality work within the media industry.
As my time here in Washington DC is coming to an end, I see the improvements I’ve made in several aspects of my life. My professional, personal, and even my cooking skills have undergone vast improvements in these past four months! I am very happy that I chose to travel across the country from California to the nation’s capital to intern for the Best Brand in the Business, Double R Productions.
