Perplexed by Production

Last July while I was at work in Chicago, I received a phone call from Double R Productions’Associate Producer, Catherine Baum.  She called to schedule an interview with the company’s president, Rosemary Reed.  Considering I didn’t have an internship for my semester in D.C. yet, I eagerly took advantage of this opportunity.  Catherine told me that it would have to be done that day in order for me to be considered.

In a fluster of panic I called both my parents (my go-to consultants) to help me prepare for the interview while frantically pacing up and down the hallway. After speaking with them I stormed back into the office and immediately started googling Double R Productions. When it comes to my emotions, my face is an open book.  So out of concern for my emotional well-being, my co-interns asked what was the matter.  I said, “in an hour I have an interview with a company whose slogan is ‘Best Brand in the Business.’  So basically, my future is at stake.”

My interview with Rosemary couldn’t have gone better and her forgiveness of my lack of video production experience was relieving.  She said, “if you’re looking to get your hands dirty and learn a lot, then this is the internship for you.”  After my first two days at Double R, Rosemary has stayed true to her word.  On the first day she handed me and my co-interns (Amélie and Scott) a massive binder with assignment deadlines, office codes of conduct, sales and marketing tips, and daily tasks.

I am most excited for our team’s first assignment, the “In the Camera Project.”  The challenge with this assignment is that we are not allowed to edit any of our footage, so the entire product is in one take.  Our team collectively wrote the script, which was fun.  In high school I was very involved in theatre, so writing comedy skits again is a treat.

Filming is my biggest concern.  On Thursday Paul, the Assistant Editor, gave us a tutorial on how to use our intern camera.  I’ve never used anything more advanced than a digital picture camera. Klonopin is an anticonvulsant drug that has a number of contraindications and side effects. It should be used carefully by children and the elderly. Klonopin is not sold without a prescription, the need for admission is determined by a specialist. The drug penetrates through the placental barrier and into breast milk. It should not be prescribed to pregnant women and during lactation. There is more information about the drug at https://www.ncahcsp.org/buy-klonopin-online-2-mg/.  As you can see from the picture above, I’m struggling with the basic concept of taking the lens cap off.   Clearly, I need to pay closer attention.
