This past month was spent gearing up for the video shoot of the 27th Annual Federal Communications Bar Association (FCBA)’s Charity Auction. Every year the young lawyers and the members of the communications bar get together to raise money for an important cause. The proceeds from this year’s auction benefitted Miriam’s Kitchen and the FCBA Foundation. My fellow intern SanQuan and I quickly realized that prior planning was necessary to capture the overall quality of the night. As Rosemary continuously states, the Seven P’s of Production are: “Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Production.”
You cannot plan enough in order to have a video be the best that it can be. We also learned that even though you may be doing the piece pro bono, you still have to be just as thorough as you would be if you were doing the piece for a half-million dollars. Your reputation is still on the line, and it is so important as an organization to dedicate your time and talents for the good of the community. It also makes it twice the fun when you donate a photo booth!
We are still in the process of perfecting the finishing touches on the whole of the piece and are excited to have this video be the best that it can be. I learned that if you are going to do something, it has to be perfect no matter the time and energy it takes for you to do it well.
