Hey guys! Like Amélie, I had some trouble coming up with a blog post this week. So I asked myself, WHADIDIDO this week?
Sandy
So my week at work started off with…no work! Even though it was well known that the Metro (my fickle friend) was going to be closed Monday and Tuesday, I was still hesitant to assume I had those days off. Rosemary is the type of woman who would make it to work even if she had a 105 degree fever, with a broken leg, and had to trudge in the middle of torrential downpour in the eye of a hurricane. Well, that’s a tad bit of an exaggeration, but you get the idea. Monday morning Rosemary left me a voicemail saying, “although it’s against my nature to say this, I guess since the city has shut down you don’t have to come to work.” I don’t mean to be insensitive to the tragic destruction Sandy caused, but it was great to have those two days off to sleep!
Spooky
On Wednesday I strolled into work well refreshed and wearing an orange dress I found that morning in my closet to serve as my pumpkin costume. I wanted to be Audrey Hepburn this year, but due to the storm I wasn’t able to obtain a proper costume to do the eternal fashion icon justice. The pumpkin costume better suited how I felt anyway, big and bloated from the copious lounging and snacking from my hurricane hibernation. Rosemary insisted everyone dress up, so it was fun to see my co-workers in costumes. Amélie definitely won best costume with her full body suit Avatar costume.
Stamps
Since we shot the second VLOG last week and we didn’t have a shoot, this week the focus was on marketing, which meant POSTCARDS! Amélie, Scott, and I had the distinguishedpleasure (not really), of sticking label addresses and stamps on hundreds of post cards for the second time. It actually wasn’t as bad as it sounds. Amélie and I put on a Florence+The Machine (our favorite, not Scott’s) Pandora station and we were good to go. Plus as you can tell from the picture, I always try to have fun with whatever I do at Double R.
Successful Lobbying
The highlight of my week was having a group informational lunch interview with John Orlando, Senior Vice President of CBS. Mr. Orlando oversees CBS’s public policy and government relations. As a previous lobbyist, it was fascinating to hear about the relationship between broadcasters and the government. This was definitely a new perspective on the broadcast industry for me, so overall this made for a successful informational interview. Look at this young professional (YOPRO as I like to say) go!
