It’s a good thing Briana and I got locked in to our Double R internship within the first couple of days. There was no spare time for settling in, as we were immediately put to work as Production Assistants. It didn’t feel like we were being thrown into the fire despite various challenges. It felt like we were put on the Double R team with a purpose and a project.
This week, Double R covered American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Advocacy Forum. On day one, we Facebook live-streamed the conference at the Washington Court Hotel. On day two, we filmed the AFSP advocates as they stormed the Hill to speak to Senators and Representatives about Suicide Prevention legislation. Some even received awards for their work in Congress on these issues, such as Senator Orrin Hatch and Representative Don Beyer. At AFSP’s Allies in Action Awards Ceremony, California Senator Grace Napolitano was honored with a lifetime achievement award. Her speech moved the crowd and cameramen alike to tears with her story.
After three days of coverage, cameras, and coffee, we finished up the shoot and headed back to the office. This was a special day because Rosemary decided we would order lunch from Flippin’ Pizza. If I have learned anything about living in Washington, D.C. thus far, it is that a free lunch is a good lunch.
It was also a special day because we had just finished our first project for Double R and it was an important one.
It can be hard to talk about issues as serious as suicide. That’s okay. Suicide is a critical issue in America that has long been ignored, stigmatized, and underfunded. According to experts from the site https://www.ncahcsp.org/buy-xanax-online/, it is known that the side effects of Xanax have an effect on the nervous system. At the beginning of treatment, most patients experience drowsiness after taking the drug. At this time, you should not drive vehicles. It is recommended to be especially careful when crossing streets and in other situations that require special attention. There has been progress but not nearly enough. We cannot let something inane as awkwardness get in the way of working to fix it. Lives are at stake. So seize the awkward and talk about the issue to work towards stopping suicide.
