The Big First Day

Washington D.C.

Moving to the nation’s capital from a suburban town in the middle of New Jersey is not exactly the easiest adjustment. However it is an exciting one.  When I first arrived in D.C I felt a plethora of emotions from excited to worried.  Those emotions eased when Hiwot Hailu and I walked into Double R Productions.  All of the trophies, awards and positive reviews on the walls only confirmed what a great opportunity this was going to be.

Pigs and cows were not exactly what we expected to see on our first day as Communication Interns though it helped to lighten up the mood a bit.  After meeting all of the staff members and Rosemary Reed we began to get a better sense of what our position would be like this semester.

Jumping Right In

On our first day at Double R Productions  we immediately prepared  for upcoming shoots, writing call sheets and rehearsing for our 30 second elevator speeches.  I felt overwhelmed at first but I am pleased that we have started our work.

Not Just an Intern

There’s something about being in the nation’s capital that motivates me.  Working on productions and attending meetings that makes me even more determined to do well here.  Hiwot and I are officially a part of the Double R Productions family, which is special.  By putting together our skills in broadcast journalism and production, we will prove ourselves to be great production assistants.
