My daily commute to Double R Productions is typically pretty painless. However, the past few weeks are the first time I’ve had to make this commute through several feet of snow. After shutting down DC for a week, Snowmaggedon continued wreaking havoc the following week. Double R Productions was one of the few businesses that stayed open the week of February 8-12. So after the struggles posed by last week’s blizzard, I thought things would be back to normal this week. Though, my Thursday morning commute begged to differ. I arrived at the metro station and began scouring for parking. This task is never too terrible because even when the garage is full there is still a good bit of street parking. But this time, due to the 4 feet of snow that was pushed to the side of the road, there was nowhere to park on the street either. I did find this article about a robotic snowplow that is being developed…DC should probably pre-order a few. I eventually gave up trying to make my usual routine work and ended up just driving to Dupont. (There is nothing like I-66 rush hour to create a great start for your day.) 2 hours of driving and $20 later (love parking garages downtown), I finally arrived at Double R. I was flustered, but realized life happens and you just have to do the best you can. The one thing you can always do is to communicate. Always let the people you work with know what is going on and they will understand. Communication is key in this business and in life.
