Thinking for the Future

  • admin

As my time with Double R Productions is coming to an end, I’m starting to consider career options for my future. It’s time to start thinking about what I want to do for the rest of my life. I realized that I want to move back to Washington D.C. after graduating in the spring. I will either apply for jobs or enroll into a graduate program. After talking to Rosemary Reed, president of Double R Productions and my internship supervisor, she advised me to get a job in the industry after graduation. I was told that work experience is more valuable than having another degree on my resume.

At Double R Productions I have worked on so many different projects and assignments, I can confidently leave D.C. and return to school with valuable information. Next semester, I want to make promotional videos and posters for my school’s sports teams. Last spring I discovered a love for this type of work because I was able to cover my former football team’s practices and workouts. This allowed me to practice my story-telling skills and also interact with the student-athletes. Eventually, I would like to start my own sports media business. I definitely see the value in having as much experience as possible because this will allow me to expand my portfolio.

One of the reasons why I came to D.C. was to gain knowledge on how to successfully run a small business. As a communications and business student, I saw Double R Productions as a place to enhance my shooting and editing skills. I also saw the tremendous value in shadowing a small business owner that has been thriving in the nation’s capital for past 30 years. Something that I have come to appreciate about Double R Productions is our wide range of communications services that we offer. I am thankful for the opportunity to have participated in this internship because it has truly helped me to grow, not only as a professional but as a young man as well.

    • Awesome work, Joseph. Get your experience after graduating, then, give it a few years, then get your next degree. You will be where you want to be because you put your mind to it & keep moving forward. Proud of you, Godson.
