The summer has passed in Double R. Brianna has left and Chloe has come to fill in the gap after Eurah left to follow other opportunities in New York. An entire year has passed since I’ve been in DC. The clock is counting down and just like the interns before me, it’s time that I reflect on my experience at Double R
The very first line in my resume reads: “Interested in a position where he can learn new things while using work experience and life experience to enhance his formal education. To him, life is all about education and your company can teach him a lot.” Working at Double R Productions for a year has inspired me in many positive ways and I will never take for granted what I learned here. When I graduated from college I had a base knowledge of the production field. I had a vision of where I wanted to be, goals to accomplish on the way, and a brain full of ideas to get me there but I lacked direction. I was an adventurer with no wind in my sails. I’ve covered major news stories, produced a video and edited several others, and toasted with one of the biggest civil rights law firms, inside the African American History Museum. I also shook hands with many Senators and Representatives of Congress via the NAB Congressional PSA Project. Crazy. These experiences combined with other clients that I’ve worked with has pushed air into my sails and breathed a new life into my lungs. I started this internship last September with Michelle and Shirley who have both gone on their own adventures. Now it’s time to set sail into the world with the skills and confidence that Double R has given me.
