What Doesn’t Kill You Only Makes You Sharper

The past few weeks have been filled with tons of work that constantly keeps us busy.  I always wonder how we manage to not only get everything done, but to complete our projects better than I had imagined. I guess that’s the beauty of working under pressure. In the beginning I thought working with the editing software, Avid, would be the death of me.  Editing was almost like trying to learn a new language. However, working on the last couple of video projects has allowed me to get my feet wet and slowly become familiar with how to piece together video in this software. Although I still have a lot to learn, and there are times when frustration gets the best of me, I do have to admit that I am adapting to this foreign system they call Avid and can add one more skill to my expanding list. Luckily I am still alive and a lot stronger and sharper than before.

Moving on to other recent events, Maggie and I attended the TIVA Peer Awards with Rosemary and Paul. Double R won a silver award for the “Distracted Driving Prevention” PSA for the National Association for Broadcasters (NAB). I felt great to be in the same place with so many successful people in the television and media industry and gave me a glimpse of what it takes to be the best in this field. I saw this as a learning experience and as usual, a fantastic networking opportunity. Hopefully one day I will be able to master Avid and win an award of my own.
