For one of our Double R Productions’ intern assignments, we shot a pro-bono video for OpenWise Learning, a nonprofit organization. OpenWise Learning serves marginalized kids by providing them with STEM education with an emphasis on technology.
We arrived at the Southeast Neighborhood Library where OpenWise Learning meets with children for programs and workshops. It was a great shooting location, as we found colorful backgrounds for the interviews. This was partly due to the immense help of library staff who helped point us in the right direction. We made sure to capture dynamic shots and footage for b-roll as Roger Ashby, Executive Director of OpenWise Learning, was teaching the class. The kids were extremely enthusiastic and productive. It reminded me of my childhood and made me wish I was more proactive in my education as a child.
This project made me especially proud to be an intern for Double R Productions. The skills and abilities I’ve developed can finally be used to create a wonderful pro-bono video for a worthwhile cause. This certainly wouldn’t be the case if I hadn’t interned at Double R Productions.
