Rosemary Reed

A pioneering force in Washington media for nearly four decades, Rosemary Reed has built one of DC's most enduring independent production companies — from live television to the digital frontier.

Rosemary Reed is the founder, President, and Owner of Double R Productions — a full-service international communications, video, and television production company operating in Washington, DC since 1987. Over more than 37 years, Double R has served an exceptionally diverse roster of clients including major national newspapers, Fortune 500 companies, the US government, associations, corporations, local arts organizations, and nonprofits. Today, the company is actively expanding its footprint in digital content strategy and distribution consulting.

Reed established her reputation at WTTG-TV, where she served as executive producer of Panorama — the nation's longest-running live daily talk show, hosted by Maury Povich. She also produced the station's first weekend news hour, which was later acquired by FOX. Her career as reporter, anchor, and special projects producer has taken her across the country and abroad — covering crisis situations in Israel and El Salvador, and producing content for network affiliates worldwide. She began in broadcast as a radio station news director.

Reed's most recent broadcast project, DC's Panorama, airs on UDC-TV and revives the spirit of the original Panorama format — tackling topics from social isolation in DC to community response to national political shifts. She is also the creator and executive producer of Gospelrobics, originally produced for Black Entertainment Television (BET-TV) and later aired on WHUT-TV, a PBS affiliate on the Howard University campus. Since the mid-1980s, Reed has produced and directed the National Association of Broadcasters' Congressional Families' PSA program.

In 2012, the DC Film Office honored Reed as Filmmaker of the Month. She has served as keynote speaker for Salisbury University's Executive Leadership Series (Franklin Perdue School of Business) and as a panelist for the DC Film Alliance's DC Film Salon. Reed currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of Off the Grid! Reed's Green Growers, LLC.

Reed's combination of on-camera and behind-the-scenes experience, academic training in theatre and speech, and college- and high school-level teaching make her a sought-after media trainer. Her clients have included CEOs, nationally recognized authors, association presidents, and senior government officials — among them representatives from the US Secret Service, US Department of State, US Diplomatic Security, and the National Institutes of Health.

Reed holds membership in the Writers Guild of America and has served on the Board of Governors for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in Washington, DC — winning a local Emmy for her writing and producing on a broadcast special for the AFL-CIO.

Reed's civic engagement spans arts, education, and public policy. She currently serves as VP and Board Member of the Portland Chamber Music Festival and as a Board Member of the Baxter Society (Maine) and Solid Earth Communities. Past leadership roles include Board of Directors of Humanities DC, CultureCapital (DC's Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington), and the Dance Exchange — where she served as Vice President and PR Chair.

Reed was a 1995–96 White House Conference on Small Business elected delegate and appointed regional coordinator, testifying before the US Senate Small Business Committee. She served as an Adjunct Professor at American University from 1987 to 1999, and twice earned recognition as Internship Supervisor of the Year from The Washington Center. She was honored as Woman of Vision (2002) by DC's Women in Film & Video, where she also served as President (1997–98).
